"Day 'n' Nite" is the debut single by Hip hop artist
Kid Cudi. It was produced by Dot Da Genius and
released February 2008 on the A Kid Named Cudi
mixtape but was featured by many blogs in mid
November credited to being featured on NBA Live 2009
and the 64th episode of the HBO's series Entourage,
both during the fall season.
The single was released February 5 2008 as a digital download via iTunes. It was released prior Kid Cudi's signing to the GOOD Music label. Since then the song's popularity grew, drawing speculation that it may be released on his upcoming debut album, Man on the Moon: The Guardians.
So far, seven remixes were made for the song, one by Pitbull, another by Jim Jones, a third house remix by Crookers, a fourth by Collie Buddz, a fifth by Twin Cities unsigned artist Young Son, a sixth by Jermaine Dupri and a seventh by Trey Songz. . A significant portion of the single's success has been accredited to the Jim Jones remix, a fact Kid Cudi has expressed with displeasure by saying, "It's kinda wack that somebody established with a big name has to jump on your record before motherfuckers start to feel it. That's my problem with the game. I think that's the lamest part of the game, of the industry."
In Europe, the remix by the Italian DJ Crookers, is much more popular than the original. For example, it was song of the week on Belgian radio station Studio Brussel. A video was released for this version of the song that Cudi expressed displeasure with and it was released without his permission. He issued an explanation on his blog and asked that all bloggers remove the video from their blogs. The song's released on 12 January in UK as both download and physical. The Crookers remix is often played during his concerts, as a continuation of the original version.
