"Number 1" is a song written by
Tinchy Stryder, Dappy (N-Dubz) and Fraser T Smith,
who is also responsible for the production. It is
his third single release in the UK. The song was
both digitally and physically released in the United
Kingdom on April 20, 2009.
The recording contains a very distinctive strings
sample from The Last Time (song) as performed by the
Andrew Oldham Orchestra. A longer sample of the same
piece also featured in Bittersweet Symphony by The
Verve, where it famously resulted in a law suit
which eventually saw Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
credited as the composers of the Verve track,
although they had written none of its lyrics.
