"We Are the People" is an alternative electroacoustic song performed by the Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun and is the second single from their debut album Walking on a Dream. It was released in Australia on September 20, 2008 and debuted at #85 on the ARIA Singles Chart before peaking at #24 on January 12, 2009. The video for the song features Steele and Littlemore, and was shot in Mexico, and used the ancient Mexican festival, Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos), as its inspiration. Locations included the surreal gardens of Sir Edward James at Las Pozas, Monterrey and García. It was directed by Josh Logue. The song has been used in media productions such as advertisements for the Special Broadcasting Service.
